Snow fell on the first day of fall in Flagstaff this year, which we’re hoping is a harbinger of a winter that’s packed with outdoor activities.
Whether you’re interested in skiing, snowboarding, or even ski biking, Pine Canyon’s concierge service can coordinate a trip for the whole family to enjoy a day in the crisp air and fluffy powder at Arizona Snowbowl. Currently, the resort is scheduled for a November 22 opening. In addition to 55 runs, with a good balance from beginner cruisers to expert terrain, Snowbowl features four different terrain parks to practice tricks and freestyle. Last year saw a record attendance of 300,000 – a testimony to the improvements the resort has made in recent years. Several new and improved lifts have reduced wait times, while snowmaking equipment has improved conditions even when Mother Nature isn’t generous with natural snow. Their website includes all the details about the mountain, lift tickets, lessons, rental options, and more: Arizona Snowbowl
If cross-country skiing or snowshoeing are more your styles, it’s just 10 minutes farther to get to Arizona Nordic Village. Their numerous trails are groomed to accommodate skate skiing as well as classic skiing. Don’t forget about the winter fun located right in Pine Canyon! The community’s skating rink, located right next to Camp Pine Canyon, is scheduled for a November 29th opening. Open skating or puck time on a chilly Flagstaff day is the perfect family activity – along with sipping hot cocoa around a bonfire – to get everyone in the holiday spirit.
This year, we’ve also launched a fun new Pine Canyon experience: Movies on the Rink. Weather permitting, every Friday from 5 pm–7 pm we’ll show a movie on the big screen – so you can watch The Grinch, Elf, and other winter favorites while you skate.
