Sometimes, you just never know what your neighbors are up to. But, by November, a whole lot of people will know what a few Pine Canyon residents are cooking up. And, we’re proud supporters of it, as a golf community that values strong family bonds and safe communities.
What are we supporting, exactly? It’s called “Driving Out Domestic Violence,” and it’s a charitable golf tournament and star-studded gala that raises money for survivors of domestic abuse. The sixth annual event, founded by Pine Canyon members Lauren and Mark Teahen, will be held November 3-4 at Talking Stick Golf Club and Jet Linx in Scottsdale.
Pine Canyon members J.J. and Kelsey Putz are co-chairs, while Paul and Jennifer Konerko are honorary co-chairs for the 2016 event.
If those names sound familiar, it’s because you’ve likely seen them as part of a box score at some point. Putz, Konerko and Teahen are all retired professional baseball players. And, they’ve asked a few friends to join them. Previous attendees include Diamondbacks favorite Paul Goldschmidt, PGA star Aaron Baddeley and Tigers outfielder Justin Upton.
The event was founded in honor of Lauren Teahen’s late mother, a domestic abuse survivor, and will feature artisanal cocktails, live music and an impressive auction along with rounds of golf with professional athletes.
